Typical of all Caribbean islands, St Lucia has a hot, humid tropical climate with an average year-round daytime temperatures ranging from 23C to 29C. The driest high season runs from December through April and the wettest season is usually from June to September. During times of heavy rainfall, flooding often occurs in the low-lying areas.

There are two airports in St. Lucia: Hewanorra International Airport at the southeastern tip of the island in Vieux Fort, accommodating large jet aircraft and George F.L. Charles Airport also known as Vigie Airport at the northwestern part of the island, accommodating only prop aircraft due to its location and runway limitations.

There's a little bit of something for everyone in St. Lucia; here can spend your time diving, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling, water skiing, biking, hiking and, of course, shopping. For a real adventurer, St. Lucia's well-preserved rainforest is a majestic place full of spectacular waterfalls, tropical flora and fauna and also high mountains, which can be best explored on a guided hike. You can explore on foot, by mountain bike, or even on horseback.

On the island's verdant west coast you can see one of the scenic natural highlights of the Caribbean - the striking and majestic twin Piton Mountains (Gros Piton (2,619 feet) and Petit Piton (2,461 feet)) located near the picturesque town of Soufriere. Mt Gimie is the highest point of St Lucia reaching about 950 meters above sea level. St. Lucia is also famous for its underwater world waiting for all nature lovers to explore and experience. Whale watching and turtle watching is another wonderful attraction of experiencing wildlife which St. Lucia visitors will certainly appreciate. Here you can spot more than 20 species of whales, including sperm whales, pilot whales, spinner and bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales and false Orcas or killer whales. Your speed boats will surely be accompanied by many playful dolphins (Striped and Frasier). You can also see giant leatherback sea turtles, weighing over 800 kg, who come ashore between mid-March and September to nest.. Do not forget to bring your sunscreen and your camera!
