North Caicos - the most northerly group of islands located 18 miles from Provo is in the top list of Turks and Caicos resorts too. It used to be the capital of the island once. This is the most beautiful, scenic and green island, often called "island garden" by the locals.
Between Providenciales and North Caicos a chain of islands stretches, only two of which are inhabited. Only a five minute drive by boat from Provo you can find sanctuary at Little Water Cay, home to thousands of iguanas. Little Water Cay is known for its tiny crags and fantastic white sand. The nearby reef Ping-Kay has a small hotel and several dozen private houses. The main attractions of North Caicos is considered to be the historical plantation of Wades Green, a 12-kilometer long beach with white sands of Whitby, the picturesque reef Frey Mary's, the Nature Reservation Pumpkin Bluff Pond, protecting rare species of waterfowl (the entire southern part of the island is occupied by swamps, which nest flamingos and rare species of ducks), reservations of Dikhill Creek and Bellefield Landing Pond, Cottage Pond and the National Park East-Bay Island.
South Caicos is the easternmost and smallest island of the archipelago, located just 35 miles west of Grand Turk. The main attractions of the island are concentrated in Cockburn Harbor, where you can stroll through the ancient streets and admire the ancient architecture. The city attracts tourists with its old buildings in Bermudian style, numerous old streets, located between the salt warehouses, as well as the colorful fishing boats, standing in the local harbor. Most historical buildings are concentrated in the southeast part of the town, where the old Wesleyan Church with its harbor facilities is nestled. In the north-eastern edge of the city extensive salt lakes lie inhabited by flamingos and pelicans.
The underwater caves in the reef and Ambergris underwater rocks along the eastern coast of the island deserve special attention. You can take a trip with the fishermen to the islands Six Hill Casey and Long Cay, where you will encounter excellent conditions for fishing on a huge jar Caicos Islands or in the Strait of Turk Island Passage, where you can find several traces of shipwrecks. The Marine Park of the island covers an area on Sail Rock Hill and turquoise bay of Belle Sound. It is designed to protect mangrove forests of coastal zones and coral reefs.
