The very name Vietnam contains some exotic trait in it, promising unforgettable fetching leisure that will leave its mark on the rest of your life awaking only pleasant memories. This country lies on the eastern part of the Indochinese peninsula. Vietnam is a strip of land having a shape of letter "S". The North of Vietnam is famous for its wonderful nature. Exactly here is the Ha Long Bay situated, the name of which is translated as "Descending dragon". As the locals confirm, some dragon still leaves in the waters known as Loch Ness Monster, which from time to time is seen by fishermen.
Coming to Vietnam one should visit the city Hue to see its historical monuments, the mysterious tombs and residences of 13 emperors of Ngyuen Dynasty, the capital Hanoi with its friendly inhabitants, colorful Sapa, Danang and many other cities of the country.
Speaking of Vietnam, it is impossible not to mention its magnificent, white, sandy beaches, the best of which are located in the central part of the country - in the coastal cities of Nha Trang and Fanthiet. It is not in vain that Vietnam has received the name "Vietnam Hawaii" due to its perfect sandy beaches. There are many luxurious hotels built on these shores offering excellent service. Tourists can amuse themselves snorkeling, diving, sunbathing, relaxing in the vessels and visiting the nearby islands. The Oceanographic Institute of Vietnam is situated in Nha Trang, which has a huge aquarium and a museum containing various species of fish.
The delicious Vietnamese cuisine will capture many tourists' hearts and stomachs with its unique special taste. The majority part of Vietnamese food uses Chinese, Thai and Khmer cuisine, adding some cuisine secrets and thus creating its own dishes and sauces that everybody comes to fall in love with. Trying at least one of the diverse and tasty dishes at any restaurant of any city in Vietnam will make this clear to you.
Those who are interested in festivals, traditions and customs of the Vietnamese people celebrating their holidays, can come here at the end of January to be present at Tet festival. Tet is the Lunar New Year which is famous for its gay street parties, dances, music. At Tet the Vietnamese people gather together wearing traditional costumes, preparing delicious national food, congratulating their friends and relatives. Another interesting festival takes place in August. This is the festival of wandering spirits, during which people expose food to all the forgotten ghosts at their houses. In June Doan Ngu festival is celebrated, accompanied by the ritual burning of portraits of the deceased. There are a number of many other festivals celebrated in Vietnam.
